Off By Heart Poetry Competition 2016

Foxes discovered their village had been destroyed by an Earthquake. They made shelters, collected food, filtered water and made animal traps.

The Hawks landed and explored a foreign land today. They made maps and shelters
Hedgehogs go Roman at Forest School
Hedgehogs excavated Roman Remains and worked on transporting water across the site. They also explored the natural pigments.

Sports Day 2015
On 20th July we held our annual Sports Day on the village Green. Congratulations to all the children for being such great sports and to Fire for being the overall winners.
We recently had a visit from a Maasai tribe in Kenya. They told us about their way of life and entertaied us with some singing and dancing. What a treat!

Badgers make bricks, weapons and Tennis ball brulee at forest school
Badgers had self directed time at Forest School today. Some carried on investigating the substrate while others used creative skills and their imagination to make bricks from the dug up clay, mud food for the masses and even a bow and arrow.
Foxes at Forest School. Iron Man and his home
Foxes created the Iron Man out of recycled materials and built homes for him around the woods. They showed great skill and team work as they did some running repairs to the viking shelter and made the paths safe with chippings. Thanks to all those who donated materials and tools.

Year 6 Studying Macbeth
The year 6 children spent a week studying playscripts. They then moved on to studying the opening scene of Macbeth. They created their own modern versions; which they then performed to the rest of the class.
The School Choir at Canterbury Cathedral
Our School Choir recently took part in a concert with 4 other schools at Canterbury Cathedral. It was a wonderful event enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff.
Wolves: Forest School creating maps, tracking and building a tiptap
Wolves at their recent forest school session, made maps of the area using natural resources and laid a trail for others to follow. They also made a tip tap to help with hand washing!

On Friday 19th December our Football Club took part in the Football Remembers event to commemorate the 100th anniversay of the Christmas Truce
The children in Squirrel Class have been starring in our annual Christmas Nativity play 'Angel Express' at St. Mary's Church.
Breakfast with Santa
Santa came to visit. We all had breakfast cooked by Mrs Burbridge and Miss Oyler. We played games with the Elves and Santa read stories to us and gave us all a present.

Frost Fayre 2014
On Sunday 7th December the PTA ran a Frost Fayre in Jessica's Hall. It was a great success as you can see!
In November 2014 we held a Maths Week. During this week the children devised and then made their own maths games which was great fun. The parents also came into school to test their mathematical skills on these games!
On 11th November the whole school went over to the Leigh War Memorial to pay our respects to the people of Leigh who have lost their lives during conflict.

We have been practising our letters using finger painting, using shaving foam, sand and bubble bath. We have also been tracing our letters.
The Jungle Book
The school's performance of The Jungle Book at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks was just fantastic.
Year 6 Prom
The Year 6 leavers have recently had their Prom Party. A great night was had by all and many thanks to the Year 6 parents for organising this.
On Friday 20th June the whole of Key Stage 2 visited the Battlefields of World War I in Ypres, Belgium as part of our commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI.
The Summer Concert featured soloists, the school orchestra, the choir and the Suzuki violin group. It was a lovely event, and if you missed it, there is a DVD available!
Year 6 to Wimbledon
On Monday some children from Year 6 went to the All England Lawn Tennis Club to see the opening day of Wimbledon! We had a fantastic day and saw some wonderful tennis.
War Memories Afternoon
As part of the preparation for our trip to Ypres, we held a War Memories Afternoon on the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. 10 speakers came into school to share their experiences and memories of conflict. The children found it a fascinating afternoon as you can see!

Owls investigated the Patterns in nature and made their own patterns with music with sticks and on cloth by leaf bashing.

Viking Day at Forest School
Hedgehog Class spent the day at Forest School learning about Vikings. They constructed a viking round house, made honey bread and nettle soup.
We have recently held a fantastic art exhibition of some of our artwork. It was a stunning display and shows what talented artists we have within the school.

Owl class 'Firework Calligrams'
Owl class have been writing descriptions using adjectives (WOW words) this week. We focused on writing similies to create a Firework Calligram (Shape poem). It was a challenge that they all took on really well and very much enjoyed presenting their work for you all to see.
